Isle of Grain LNG Tank 2 Construction Underway to Boost UK Energy Capacity
The Isle of Grain LNG Terminal is undergoing a significant expansion with the construction of a new 190,000 m³ storage tank as part of the Capacity 25 (CAP25) project. This expansion aims to enhance the UK's energy infrastructure and is expected to enable supply for up to 33% of the nation's gas demand.

The Capacity 25 (CAP25) expansion at Isle of Grain LNG Terminal includes a new full-containment LNG tank of 190,000 m³. The tank features a 9% nickel steel inner tank and a slipform-constructed pre-stressed concrete outer shell.
Bowercross Construction Labour (BCL) provided skilled labor for the 24-hour slipform operation, completing the outer structure in 21 days. This rapid construction phase required precision and careful coordination to ensure structural integrity. Upon completion, the expansion will significantly enhance the UK's energy security by increasing the terminal's gas supply capacity.
