Israel Launches NIS 150 Million Initiative for Integrated Photonics R&D
Israel's new initiative, backed by NIS 150 million, aims to enhance the development of integrated photonics technology. This investment will facilitate access to advanced R&D infrastructure for both industry and academic institutions, accelerating the transition from research to commercial products.

The Israel Innovation Authority, in partnership with the Ministry of Defense's DDR&D, has initiated a funding program totaling NIS 150 million to establish a national R&D infrastructure for integrated photonics. The program will support the full development cycle, including design, simulation, testing, and manufacturing, aimed at enhancing Israel's competitiveness in the semiconductor sector.
Selected proposals must meet stringent industrial standards and be operational within 18 months, offering partial R&D services within a year. This initiative is expected to bridge the gap between advanced research capabilities and the manufacturing needs of Israel's deep-tech industry, ultimately enabling faster commercialization of photonic technologies.
