Israel Suspends Humanitarian Organizations in Gaza; Yemen Ends Defense Pact with UAE Amid Tensions

DEFENSE

Israel has suspended numerous international humanitarian organizations, including Doctors Without Borders, from operating in Gaza starting January 1, citing non-compliance with new vetting rules and alleged cooperation with Hamas. In Yemen, leader Rashad al-Alimi has ended the defense pact with the UAE, ordering Emirati forces to leave within 24 hours and declaring a 90-day national state of emergency.

The UAE also confirmed plans to withdraw its remaining forces. In Turkey, a shootout during a police raid resulted in three officers and six Islamic State gunmen killed. Other incidents include an avalanche in Spain killing three, a car crash in Nigeria injuring boxer Anthony Joshua, and protests in Iran following a currency drop. Meanwhile, major events such as a mass shooting in Ecuador and a train derailment in Mexico have resulted in multiple fatalities.
