Israel's National Guard to Deploy Tear Gas Drones in West Bank for Ramadan Security
Israel's National Guard plans to deploy drone-mounted tear gas systems in the occupied West Bank during Ramadan. The police tenders committee approved three systems, known as 'Surprise Egg,' for approximately $49,000 to disperse gatherings. The Israeli army is also increasing its presence with additional units in the area, amid concerns over access restrictions to the Al-Aqsa Mosque. The measures coincide with heightened tensions and security preparations for expected events during the holy month.

Israel's National Guard is set to deploy drones equipped with tear gas to the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem, in preparation for Ramadan. Three 'Surprise Egg' systems were approved for purchase at around $49,000.
The Israeli police currently operate 19 similar systems. The army is also increasing its presence, planning to send additional units to the West Bank and recommending entry for up to 10,000 worshippers at Al-Aqsa Mosque each Friday. Restrictions on access to the mosque have been tightened since the onset of military actions in Gaza in October 2023.
