Italy to Integrate Bayraktar TB3 UAVs on ITS Cavour Aircraft Carrier
Italy's Navy plans to utilize Baykar’s Bayraktar TB3 UAVs on its aircraft carrier, ITS Cavour, enhancing naval capabilities. This partnership highlights the growing influence of Türkiye's UAV carrier concept among Western navies, focusing on cost-effective and flexible air power.

Italy's Navy will integrate the Bayraktar TB3 UAVs into its flagship aircraft carrier, ITS Cavour, through a collaboration with Baykar and Leonardo. This move underscores the adoption of the UAV carrier concept, initially operationalized on Türkiye's TCG Anadolu, by Western nations seeking versatile naval air power.
The TB3, designed for short-deck operations, offers surveillance and armed capabilities alongside F-35Bs. With a unit cost of approximately $5 million and 32-hour endurance, the TB3 presents significant operational cost savings compared to conventional aircraft. This trend may redefine naval air strategies, as countries like the UK and Spain explore similar capabilities.
