Italy's Defense Ministry Initiates Multispada Project for Drone-Carrying Satellite Development
Italy is developing a military satellite capable of deploying micro-drones with advanced sensors for space observation. The Multispada project, funded by the Defense Ministry, involves Nurjana Technologies and D-Orbit. Currently in the study phase, it focuses on operational scenario definition and military requirements. Approximately €1.2 million is allocated for the first phase, and €1.46 million for the second, totaling nearly €2.7 million.

The Multispada project, initiated by the Italian Defense Ministry, aims to create a satellite capable of carrying and deploying micro-drones for space observation. Currently in the study phase, the project is being developed by Nurjana Technologies and D-Orbit, with funding of approximately €1.2 million for initial studies and €1.46 million for future implementation, totaling nearly €2.7 million.
It focuses on defining operational scenarios and military requirements without launching any satellites yet. The project envisions a carrier system that manages small autonomous units, enhancing Space Situational Awareness (SSA) capabilities.
