IWI's Arbel System Gains Interest in Europe for Drone Defense; Production Planned in India
Israel Weapon Industries (IWI) has reported significant interest in its 'Arbel System', a mini-computer that enables rifles and light machine guns to target drones. Since 2022, at least 10 countries have acquired or are considering this system due to the increased need for anti-drone capabilities amid the Ukraine conflict.
IWI expects that by 2026, 40 to 50 percent of European countries will have procured the Arbel System. The system enhances accuracy against small drones, allowing soldiers to automatically release rounds when optimal conditions are detected.
IWI plans to produce the Arbel System in India under the Make in India initiative, responding to India's need for improved defense against rising drone threats. The system's lightweight design allows for easy integration with existing firearms, making it a cost-efficient solution for modern military challenges.
