Japan and Philippines Celebrate 70 Years of Diplomatic Relations and Cooperation

Japan and the Philippines mark the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations in 2023. Japan's Foreign Minister visited the Philippines to reinforce commitments to mutual cooperation in security and economy, including the Japan-Philippines Reciprocal Access Agreement.

Japan aims to enhance interoperability and provide defense support while also contributing to infrastructure and disaster management through Official Development Assistance. The Philippines, as ASEAN Chair, will receive support from Japan in leadership initiatives.

People-to-people exchanges are highlighted, with over 400,000 Japanese visitors recorded in the past year. Various events are planned to commemorate the anniversary.
