Japan Semiconductor Signs vPPA for Floating Solar Project in Kagawa Prefecture
Japan Semiconductor, a Toshiba subsidiary, has entered into a virtual Power Purchase Agreement (vPPA) with Kunishitaike Mega Float for environmental attribute certificates from a 7.8MW floating solar project in Kagawa Prefecture. This agreement, which aims to reduce Japan Semiconductor's greenhouse gas emissions by approximately 4,173 tons annually, supports Toshiba's goal of achieving 100% decarbonization of its manufacturing sites by 2030.

Japan Semiconductor, a subsidiary of Toshiba, has signed a virtual Power Purchase Agreement (vPPA) with Kunishitaike Mega Float (KMF) to secure environmental attribute certificates from a floating solar project in Kagawa Prefecture, Japan. The agreement allows Japan Semiconductor to obtain environmental value from the 7.8MW Kunishitaike floating solar plant, which began commercial operations in December 2024.
The vPPA aims to help Japan Semiconductor reduce its greenhouse gas emissions by approximately 4,173 tons annually. The contract was facilitated through 'RE Bridge,' an auction platform by Digital Grid that connects renewable power buyers and sellers. This agreement is part of Toshiba's initiative to achieve 100% decarbonization of its manufacturing sites by 2030.
