JEA Proposes Rate Increases for Electric, Water, and Sewer Services
JEA plans to increase residential electric rates by 8% and water/sewer rates by 6% to meet rising operational costs. The proposed changes, based on a cost of service study, are set for board discussion on April 14, with a potential implementation date of October 1.

JEA is seeking an 8% revenue increase from residential electric bills and a 6% increase for water and sewer services, as presented at the board meeting on March 31. A typical residential electricity bill of 1,000 kilowatt hours is currently $159.79, with a base rate of $91.62 subject to increase.
The board will reconvene on April 14 for further discussions, with a rate hearing scheduled for June 30. JEA aims to fund capital projects and adapt to growth and regulatory demands. It is also preparing to build a $1.57 billion natural gas plant. Any rate adjustments would be effective from October 1, following a series of planned meetings.
