Jera Secures LNG Supplies Amid Middle East Disruptions
Jera has secured sufficient LNG supplies through July 2026 to meet domestic demand, leveraging its trading capabilities despite ongoing geopolitical tensions. The company holds significant contracts with Qatargas and QatarEnergy, ensuring stable procurement of LNG amid potential disruptions from both the Middle East and Australian projects.

Japan's Jera has confirmed adequate LNG supplies through July 2026, essential for meeting domestic demand. The company utilizes the capabilities of Jera Global Markets for stable procurement, though details on alternative cargoes remain undisclosed.
Jera has a term contract with Qatargas for 700,000 t/yr of LNG and plans to begin a 27-year deal with QatarEnergy for 3mn t/yr starting in 2028. Jera's LNG consumption for the fiscal year 2025-26 is projected at 22.35mn t, accounting for 34% of Japan's total imports.
Concerns regarding potential strikes at the Ichthys LNG project may exacerbate supply challenges. Jera's coal consumption increased to 20.94mn t, producing 57.8TWh of electricity in the same fiscal year.
