Jersey Village City Council Delays Property Maintenance Code Adoption, Plans Town Hall for Community Input

NATURAL GAS

On March 16, Jersey Village City Council postponed the adoption of an updated property maintenance code after residents requested more information on enforcement. The proposed code, based on the 2024 International Property Maintenance Code (IPMC), aims to establish standards for residential and commercial buildings.

Mayor James Singleton plans to hold a town hall to discuss the code's implications. The council also authorized a $2.58 million contract with Ballast Point Construction for the Seattle Street and Singapore Lane Reconstruction Project. Additionally, natural gas rates for households will increase by $2.47 per month starting June 2 due to CenterPoint Energy's annual rate adjustments.
