Jharkhand Cabinet Approves Upgrade of Four Hospitals to Medical Colleges
The Jharkhand cabinet has sanctioned the transformation of four district hospitals into medical colleges through PPP and VGF. This initiative aims to enhance healthcare services in the region.

The Jharkhand cabinet approved the upgrade of district hospitals in Dhanbad, Khunti, Giridih, and Jamtara to medical colleges under a public-private partnership model. A budget of Rs 153.37 crore was allocated for an interstate bus terminal in Jamshedpur.
Additionally, the cabinet sanctioned the Jharkhand Motor Vehicles Taxation (Amendment) Bill, 2026, introducing a one-time 7% tax on commercial two-wheelers and construction vehicles. Changes were made to the Jharkhand Minor Mineral Concession Rules, allowing up to 150 hectares for exploration.
Other decisions included a DA hike for pensioners and employees effective July 1, 2025, and plans for a state-level science and technology quiz and a 'Jharkhand Robotics Festival.' This multi-faceted approach reflects the cabinet's commitment to education and infrastructure development.
