Joint Forces Recover 95 Crude Bombs in Shariatpur, Detain Three Individuals
Joint police and army forces recovered 95 crude bombs stored in 12 buckets in the Poragachha Beparikandi area of Naria upazila, Shariatpur, during a morning operation. The drive, conducted from 3:00 am until dawn, resulted in the detention of three individuals: Roni Peda, 18, Mahedi Hasan, 25, and Bacchu Peda, 60.
They were taken to Naria Police Station along with the seized weapons. Authorities plan to file a case under the Explosive Substances Act. The recovered bombs will be defused by a bomb disposal unit from Dhaka.
This recovery follows the discovery of 22 crude bombs from three locations in the upazila over the past three days, and a prior incident in August 2022 where 60 crude bombs were also defused in the same area. An explosion on January 8 resulted in three deaths during crude bomb manufacturing in the neighboring Jajira upazila.
