JRC, SKY Perfect JSAT, and Sharp Launch Multi-Orbit Communications System with Japan's Ministry of Defense
Japan Radio Co., Ltd., SKY Perfect JSAT Corporation, and Sharp Corporation are set to develop a next-generation communications system supporting the Japan Ministry of Defense's initiative. The project, announced on February 4, 2026, aims to enhance communications resilience through multi-orbit satellite technology by March 31, 2028.

Japan Radio Co., Ltd. (JRC), SKY Perfect JSAT Corporation, and Sharp Corporation are collaborating on a communications system aimed at bolstering the Ministry of Defense's project for resilience-enhancing technologies.
The initiative focuses on developing a system using GEO, MEO, and LEO satellites, improving communication reliability during disasters. JRC will manage the project, with SKY Perfect JSAT developing the network and Sharp creating a multi-orbit user terminal. This venture is crucial for maintaining essential social functions and ensuring security in the face of unforeseen events.
