Karnataka's Minor Irrigation Minister NS Boseraju has directed officials to finalize the implementation framework for floating solar power plants on lakes based on a feasibility report from Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL). The report proposes a pilot project at Somambudi Agrahara Lake capable of generating 100 MW of clean energy.

The initiative is part of the state's efforts to lower electricity costs for lift irrigation projects. Boseraju emphasized the need for sustainable energy sources to alleviate financial burdens. Officials are tasked with conducting a technical re-evaluation of the report and preparing an actionable implementation roadmap.
