Karnataka Pursues Mineral Exploration Across 11,600 Acres of Forest Land

Karnataka has authorized exploration activities covering approximately 17,460 acres, with 11,600 acres designated as forest land. Nine companies are at various stages of the exploration process, focusing on minerals such as gold, iron, manganese, and bauxite.

Notably, gold exploration applications span around 9,200 acres, with a significant project in the Bukkapatna Chinkara Wildlife Sanctuary targeting over 2,100 acres. Environmental concerns have been raised regarding the impact on biodiversity and the long-term implications of resource extraction.
