Kawasaki and JFE Engineering Win LNG Terminal Expansion Project at Sakaide Port, Japan
Kawasaki and JFE Engineering have been awarded a contract for the LNG terminal tank expansion at Sakaide Port, Japan. The expansion aims to increase storage capacity and enhance LNG reception flexibility due to rising natural gas demand linked to the construction of Sakaide Unit 5 by Shikoku Electric Power Co. The project includes adding a 180,000-kilogram LNG tank and associated supply facilities by fiscal year 2031.

Kawasaki and JFE Engineering will expand the LNG terminal at Sakaide Port, Japan, in response to increased gas demand due to the construction of Sakaide Unit 5 by Shikoku Electric Power Co. Sakaide LNG Co. aims to enhance storage capacity and optimize supply infrastructure.
The project will add a 180,000-kilogram LNG tank and supply facilities, including LNG vaporizers, with operations expected to start in fiscal year 2031. Kawasaki will construct the tank, while JFE Engineering will handle civil engineering and construction.
