Kawasaki Heavy Industries to Build World's Largest Liquefied Hydrogen Carrier in Japan
Kawasaki Heavy Industries, in partnership with Japan Suiso Energy, is constructing the largest liquefied hydrogen carrier with a capacity of 40,000 m³ at its Sakaide Works in Kagawa Prefecture, Japan. The project features advanced cargo tanks, an electric propulsion system using hydrogen/oil dual-fuel generators, and a sophisticated cargo handling system designed for efficient and safe transfer of liquefied hydrogen.

Kawasaki Heavy Industries and Japan Suiso Energy are developing the world's largest liquefied hydrogen carrier at Sakaide Works, Japan. The vessel will have a capacity of 40,000 m³ and will utilize high-performance insulated cargo tanks to minimize boil-off gas (BOG) generation.
It will be equipped with an electric propulsion system featuring hydrogen/oil dual-fuel generators, optimizing CO emissions during transport. The cargo handling system will facilitate the safe loading and unloading of large volumes of liquefied hydrogen. The project incorporates rigorous safety measures to protect the crew and environment.
