Kenosha Unified School District to Install Metal Detectors in All High Schools
The Kenosha Unified School District board approved a policy for walk-through metal detectors in all six high schools, following six weapon incidents in two weeks. The district plans to spend nearly $473,500 from general fund reserves for 18 units and 15 handheld wands. The CEIA OpenGate system, capable of screening 300 people every 15 minutes, will be installed at various high schools. Parents have expressed support for the initiative, emphasizing the need for student safety.

The CEIA OpenGate system can screen approximately 300 individuals every 15 minutes and will be implemented at Bradford, Harborside Academy/Reuther Central, Hillcrest, Indian Trail, Lakeview Technology Academy, and Tremper High School. Parents have voiced strong support for the safety measure.
