Kenosha Unified School District to Install Metal Detectors in All High Schools
DEFENSE
The Kenosha Unified School District board approved the installation of walk-through metal detectors at all six high schools due to six weapon-related incidents in two weeks. The district will allocate nearly $473,500 from its general fund reserves to purchase 18 metal detector units and 15 handheld wands.
The CEIA OpenGate system can screen approximately 300 individuals every 15 minutes and will be implemented at Bradford, Harborside Academy/Reuther Central, Hillcrest, Indian Trail, Lakeview Technology Academy, and Tremper High School. Parents have voiced strong support for the safety measure.
