DEFENSE

The Kent County Regional Planning Commission approved several proposals on February 12, including a $100 million readiness center for the Delaware Army National Guard (DEARNG) on 36.3 acres east of Cheswold, to be developed in three phases starting in FY 2028. Phase 1 involves a 42,000-square-foot readiness center, Phase 2 includes an 18,000-square-foot vehicle-maintenance facility, and Phase 3 adds a 32,000-square-foot expansion.

Additionally, Berean Community Church plans a 6,000-square-foot addition and a 13,920-square-foot sanctuary. A two-lot subdivision and an 11,902-square-foot micro-brewery were also approved.
