Kent Secures Pre-FEED Contract for Eq.flight UK Power-to-Liquid SAF Project
Kent has secured a Pre-FEED contract for the Eq.flight power-to-liquid Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) project, funded by the UK Department for Transport's Advanced Fuels Fund. The project aims to develop a demonstration plant utilizing solid oxide electrolysis and nuclear energy to significantly reduce lifecycle emissions. Key technologies include Fischer-Tropsch synthesis and reverse water-gas shift, with a goal of achieving a 90-95% reduction in carbon intensity compared to conventional jet fuel. The project aligns with the UK's SAF Mandate, targeting 0.2% SAF supply by 2028 and 4.5% by 2040.

Kent has been awarded a Pre-FEED contract for the Eq.flight power-to-liquid demonstration project, which aims to produce Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) using nuclear energy. The project secured £1m funding from the UK Department for Transport and will employ solid oxide electrolysis, Fischer-Tropsch synthesis, and reverse water-gas shift technologies.
It targets a 90-95% reduction in carbon intensity compared to conventional jet fuel. The UK SAF mandate requires that power-to-liquid fuels comprise 0.2% of airport fuels by 2028, increasing to 4.5% by 2040. Kent's role supports the development of scalable net-zero energy projects.
