Kentucky Awards $10M in Nuclear Grants to Support Modular Reactor Projects and Workforce Development
The Kentucky Economic Development Authority (KNEDA) has awarded $10 million in grants to six organizations for nuclear projects. American Electric Power received $1 million for siting work on small modular reactors. General Matter and Global Laser Enrichment will develop supply chain capacity and workforce training programs, respectively. SOAR received $1.56 million for workforce development in eastern Kentucky, while West Kentucky Community and Technical College will launch a regional training hub. Senate Bill 57 aims to establish a Nuclear Reactor Site Readiness Pilot Program.
