KIBAG Operates Develon's Autonomous Excavator in Switzerland
The Develon DX225LC-7X excavator, utilizing the Real-X system, has been deployed for autonomous operation at a KIBAG site. This marks a significant advancement in construction automation, potentially enhancing efficiency by 30% and addressing workforce shortages.

KIBAG is employing the Develon DX225LC-7X autonomous excavator at a former quarry in Tuggen, Switzerland. This marks the first practical application of the Real-X system, designed for trench excavation, earthworks, and truck loading.
The project involves digging a trench 300 meters long, 6 meters wide, and 3 meters deep, aimed at stabilizing the hillside. While the operation of autonomous machinery in public areas lacks regulation, it can function on KIBAG's private land under supervision.
Develon aims for full autonomy in construction by 2030, following the introduction of its Concept-X systems starting in 2019. The collaboration with Gravis Robotics, a spin-off from ETH Zurich, has facilitated this advancement in autonomous capabilities.
