KIND Invests $300M in European Eco-Friendly CHP Plant Project for 400,000 Households
The Korea Overseas Infrastructure & Urban Development Corporation (KIND) has invested $300 million in a combined heat and power (CHP) plant project in Europe, aiding BHI's entry into the European energy market. The CHP plant will utilize natural gas, generating 110 MW of electricity and 90 MW of heat, supplying energy to 400,000 households by replacing an aging thermal power plant.
KIND supported all project stages, including feasibility studies and local market analysis, and signed a memorandum of understanding with BHI in 2023 for cooperation in CHP projects. As the largest shareholder, KIND's involvement secures financing for the project, which aims to finalize a loan agreement with domestic banks in Q1 2026. KIND plans to expand its participation in ESG-based infrastructure projects in Europe, enhancing investment opportunities for Korean companies.
