King of Cambodia Seeks Continued Support for Demining Amid Increased UXO Threats
King Norodom Sihamoni has called for ongoing international assistance for Cambodia's demining initiatives due to heightened UXO challenges resulting from recent Thai military actions. The King emphasizes the urgent need for support to mitigate the humanitarian impact of landmines and unexploded ordnance in the country.

King Norodom Sihamoni has highlighted the increased burden on Cambodia's demining efforts after recent artillery attacks by Thai military forces. He urged donor countries to sustain their support for mine clearance, stressing that decades of conflict have left significant amounts of landmines and unexploded ordnance (UXO) in Cambodia, which severely impede development and cause numerous casualties.
The King noted that the Royal Government has previously destroyed stockpiled landmines and is working to intensify clearance campaigns with the aid of national and international organizations. Continued support is essential to help landmine victims and ensure safe land for agricultural use in the country.
