Kitimat council has approved funding for a $2.25 million spray park in its 2026 budget, rejecting a deferral to 2027. The project will be financed through the Northwest Resource Benefits Alliance (RBA) grant plan, which faces a projected shortfall of $1,585,518 by 2028. The construction is expected to be mostly complete by September 2026, with full completion anticipated in spring 2027. Council discussions highlighted concerns about infrastructure priorities and financial certainty, with plans to approach LNG Canada and TC Energy for additional funding support.
