KN Energies Launches Open Season for Long-Term LNG Capacity at Klaipeda Terminal
KN Energies has launched an open season for long-term LNG capacity at the Klaipeda FSRU in Lithuania, offering a total of 28 TWh/year from 2033 to 2044 in packages of 4 TWh each. The terminal, which has seen increased activity with a record 34 LNG vessels unloaded in 2025, serves as a crucial import gateway for central and eastern Europe, with plans for future expansions to enhance transit capabilities. Results from the allocation process are expected to be announced in April and May.

KN Energies has initiated an open season for long-term capacity at the Klaipeda FSRU in Lithuania, covering the period from 2033 to 2044. A total of 28 TWh/year, equivalent to 2.6 bcm, will be offered over 12 years, divided into packages of 4 TWh each.
Results from this allocation process are expected to be published in April and May. In 2025, the terminal achieved a record with 34 LNG vessels unloaded, increasing from 30 in the previous year. The terminal's utilization rate is currently at 68%, surpassing the European average of 49%.
The facility serves as a key LNG import gateway for central and eastern Europe, with usage from companies in Poland, Slovakia, and Ukraine. Anticipated expansions in 2026 of the Polish gas grid's export capacity by a third are expected to increase interest and facilitate greater transit of LNG exports.
