Kongsberg Maritime Competes for Norwegian Navy's Standardized Vessel Design P1118

DEFENSE

Kongsberg Maritime is in the prequalification phase of the competition for the Royal Norwegian Navy's new standardized vessels (P1118). The Norwegian Defence Materiel Agency has opened a national competition for designing up to 28 vessels.

Kongsberg Maritime aims to leverage its full product portfolio, including ship design and integrated systems. The company has completed designs for over 1,000 vessels and currently supplies systems for the British, Canadian, Australian, and Norwegian Type 26 frigates.

Kongsberg Maritime seeks to enhance its partnership with the Royal Norwegian Navy, especially following its separation from Kongsberg Gruppen. The company, which employs over 8,000 globally, is set to be listed as an independent entity on the Oslo Stock Exchange on 23 April 2026.
