Korea and Thailand Strengthen Cooperation on Small Modular Reactor Technology
Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power (KHNP) held a seminar in Bangkok with the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) to enhance collaborations in small modular reactor (SMR) technology. This event followed a June 2025 memorandum of understanding aimed at advancing SMR initiatives. Approximately 80 participants, including officials from Thailand's Energy Ministry and major Korean companies, discussed energy policies, innovative SMR technology, and safety measures. KHNP aims to support Thailand's energy transition and expand SMR opportunities in the ASEAN region.

Around 80 experts attended, including officials from Thailand's Energy Ministry and representatives from Korean nuclear companies such as Korea Electric Power Corp E&C and Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute. Discussions included energy policies, the status of innovative SMR technologies, and safety measures. KHNP plans to aid Thailand's energy transition and expand SMR business opportunities in the ASEAN region.
