Korea Gas Corporation Localizes Cryogenic LNG Pump Technology, Enhancing Energy Security
Korea Gas Corporation (KOGAS) has successfully localized cryogenic LNG pump technology, achieving energy technology independence and enhancing national energy security. This milestone, achieved through a partnership with Hyundai Heavy Industries Turbomachinery, enables 100% domestic production of core components and is expected to disrupt the market dominated by foreign firms, while also boosting local sales and job growth. The initiative serves as a model for future public-private collaborations in energy innovation.

Korea Gas Corporation (KOGAS) announced the successful localization of the cryogenic LNG pump, critical for natural gas production, achieving energy technology independence. This milestone follows seven months of demonstration at the Pyeongtaek LNG terminal, conducted in collaboration with Hyundai Heavy Industries Turbomachinery.
The project, part of the 'K-Testbed' initiative, resulted in 100% domestic production of all core components, enhancing technological self-sufficiency. The localization is set to disrupt a market previously dominated by foreign firms, offering cost advantages and quick maintenance for domestic pumps.
This shift supports national energy security amidst ongoing supply chain challenges and is expected to boost sales and job growth for local SMEs. KOGAS's partnership model serves as a blueprint for future public-private collaborations in energy innovation.
