Korean Air Advances into Space Economy with Successful 5-Meter Satellite Antenna Test
Korean Air has tested a 5-meter satellite antenna, reinforcing its position in future space programs and 6G advancements. The tests took place in January at the CAMTIC Advanced Mechatronics Technology Institute in Jeonju, under the supervision of the Korea Research Institute for Defense Technology Planning and Advancement.
Collaborators included CAMTIC, StepLab, and Korea Aerospace University. The project addresses technical challenges of large satellite antennas, ensuring minimal volume within the launch vehicle while achieving precise deployment in orbit.
Korean Air's internal mechanism demonstrated high repeatability and structural integrity under thermal and mechanical stress. Following these results, the company is accelerating the development of full-scale antenna systems for upcoming space initiatives, positioning itself as an emerging player in the global space industry.
