Kosovo Tests Long-Range Skifteri K1 Kamikaze Drone with 1,124 km Flight Capability

DEFENSE

Kosovo has successfully conducted a long-range strike test of the Skifteri K1 kamikaze drone, achieving a flight of 1,124 kilometers and remaining airborne for seven hours and twelve minutes while carrying a 42-kilogram payload. The test, conducted by a client of the manufacturer, included altered footage for operational security.

The drone features a fixed-wing design with a pusher propeller, and it likely employs a small internal-combustion engine for extended range. Navigation relies on GPS and inertial systems with pre-programmed waypoints, while terminal guidance is supported by electro-optical sensors.

Reports indicate cruise speeds of up to 180 km/h and an operational ceiling of approximately 2,500 meters, although these figures remain unconfirmed for the test variant. The Skifteri K1 represents Kosovo's advancing drone capabilities, marking significant progress in its defense-industrial sector.
