Kuwait Greenlights $10 Billion Infrastructure Initiative
Kuwait's finance ministry has approved infrastructure projects totaling approximately KD3 billion ($9.9 billion) aimed at enhancing power and water capacity. This initiative is critical as the country seeks to address escalating electricity demands and aims to generate 15% of its energy from renewable sources by 2030.

Kuwait's recent approval of KD3 billion in infrastructure projects includes the construction of power plants and desalination facilities. The planned developments will contribute an additional 3,580 MW of electricity capacity and will support waste treatment and educational needs.
Notably, the projects comprise a second phase of the Az-Zour North power plant (1,800 MW), a new Khairan plant (1,500 MW), and the Al Abdaliyah power plant (280 MW), with 60 MW from solar energy. Funding will be partially sourced from stock market offerings, though a timeline for most projects remains unspecified, aside from a sewage plant set to begin by 2020. The goal to achieve 15% renewable energy by 2030 underscores the urgency of these projects.
