Kwinana Energy Hub to Produce 130kg of Hydrogen Daily with New Electrolysers
The Kwinana Energy Transformation Hub (KETH) aims to produce 130kg of gaseous hydrogen daily after securing equipment for Stage 2 development. Pacific Energy has been contracted to supply two electrolysers and conduct front-end engineering design (FEED). Construction of the hydrogen processing plant is expected to begin in late 2026. The facility will support research and testing for both gaseous and liquid hydrogen production. This project is part of a broader initiative to enhance Australia's clean energy capabilities.

The Kwinana Energy Transformation Hub (KETH) is set to produce 130kg of gaseous hydrogen daily following the acquisition of two NEL Series 4 C30 electrolysers by Pacific Energy. This equipment will support the facility's Stage 2 development, which includes a hydrogen processing plant expected to commence construction in late 2026 post-FEED completion.
The plant will generate 130kg of gaseous hydrogen and 100kg of liquid hydrogen daily for testing and research purposes. KETH is funded by federal and state grants and aims to provide a practical setting for safe technology trials. The project progresses amidst delays in other local hydrogen initiatives, such as bp's H2Kwinana Hydrogen Hub, which has seen significant investment cuts.
