L3Harris Develops NOVA Binocular System for U.S. Army Night Vision Needs
L3Harris is developing the NOVA Binocular System as a cost-effective alternative to the PVS-14 for the U.S. Army, aiming to enhance night vision capabilities with a USB-C interface for easier maintenance. While specialized systems like ENVG-B and BNVD will still be preferred for special operations, NOVA is designed for broader military use, with future enhancements planned, including a version featuring a partial heads-up display.

L3Harris is developing the NOVA Binocular System as a commercial variant of the proposed Binocular Night Observation Device for the U.S. Army, starting in 2021. The NOVA system aims to replace the PVS-14 with a low-cost, universally deployable binocular system featuring ease of maintenance through a USB-C interface.
While ENVG-B and BNVD will remain preferred for special operations, NOVA targets broader military use by offering economical night vision capabilities. Future enhancements are planned, including a version with a partial heads-up display and increased immersion.
