L3Harris Invests in Golden Dome Missile Defense Program and Capacity Expansion
L3Harris Technologies is committing hundreds of millions to enhance missile defense systems, particularly the Golden Dome initiative. This proactive strategy aims to secure supply chains and expand production capabilities in response to rising demand in the defense sector.

L3Harris Technologies is investing significantly in its missile-defense capabilities, particularly for the Pentagon's Golden Dome program. The company has allocated approximately $250 million to expand its manufacturing facilities in Florida, Indiana, and Massachusetts, increasing production space by 150,000 square feet.
This strategy diverges from traditional defense contracting practices that typically await government contracts before making capital commitments. The company is also enhancing its digital engineering and workflow capabilities to compete with faster-moving startups like SpaceX and Anduril Industries.
By focusing on infrared sensing and positioning itself as a merchant supplier, L3Harris aims to collaborate with both established primes and newer market entrants. Furthermore, a partnership with Amazon's low-Earth orbit network is being explored to improve secure communications and payload options.
