La Normandise Reduces Water Consumption by 25% Amidst Drought Challenges in Calvados

NOVEL RENEWABLE ENERGY

La Normandise, located in Vire, Calvados, has reduced its water consumption by 25% per ton produced since 2018, using 180,000 m³ annually. In 2022, facing one of France's driest summers, the company accelerated its water-saving initiatives.

It installed over 80 water meters to analyze consumption, focusing on boilers, which account for 25% of total usage. Improvements included limiting purges and reusing 30% of hot water. A heat network with a nearby methanizer was established to minimize evaporation from cooling towers.

Additionally, since early 2026, rainwater is utilized for cooling. The company emphasizes ongoing improvement but does not disclose financial details.
