Lacy Lakeview Considers Treated Wastewater for Proposed Data Center Operations
Lacy Lakeview officials are exploring the use of treated wastewater for a proposed data center that could require millions of gallons daily. Energy Systems Group (ESG) presented a plan using 'sewer mining' to capture and reclaim wastewater, producing approximately two million gallons per day for cooling needs. The project aims to minimize reliance on drinking water and may generate revenue from selling excess treated water. A Project Development Agreement was approved to evaluate costs and environmental impacts, although concerns about chemical additives were raised by residents.

Lacy Lakeview is considering using treated wastewater for a proposed data center that may need millions of gallons daily. Energy Systems Group (ESG) proposed a 'sewer mining' system that uses advanced membrane technology to reclaim wastewater, producing around two million gallons per day.
The plan aims to meet the data center's cooling requirements without using the city's drinking water. The project could also create new revenue through the sale of excess treated water. City council approved a Project Development Agreement for further study of costs, environmental impacts, and funding sources, while some residents expressed concerns about chemical additives in the treated water.
