Lagos State and Nigerian Air Force Strengthen Security Partnership and Discuss Airport Base Proposal
Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has reaffirmed his commitment to enhancing the partnership with the Nigerian Air Force (NAF), focusing on the protection of strategic installations and improving security in the state. During a meeting with the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, Sanwo-Olu acknowledged the request for an Air Force base near Murtala Muhammed International Airport to bolster security.
Aneke emphasized the need for deeper collaboration to address evolving security challenges and expressed NAF's readiness to support Lagos with advanced surveillance capabilities, including unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). The meeting coincided with Aneke's operational tour of the Logistics Command in Lagos, aimed at evaluating personnel readiness and logistics capacity for counter-insurgency operations. Additionally, the CAS highlighted the importance of personnel welfare and ongoing infrastructure projects initiated by the Air Force.
