Laredo Allocates $20M for Water Infrastructure Improvements
Laredo, Texas, is investing over $11 million to upgrade water lines and develop a contingency reservoir plan at Lake Casa Blanca. This initiative is supported by an additional $20 million in federal funding, aimed at enhancing the city's water infrastructure and emergency response capabilities.

Laredo is replacing over 80,000 feet of underground water pipeline as part of its ongoing infrastructure upgrades, with over $11 million already invested. Federal funding of $20 million is allocated for this project, complementing a prior $47 million received for the Jefferson Water Plant and associated facilities.
The Jefferson Water Treatment Plant, which processes approximately 37 million gallons of water daily in summer and 20 million in winter, sources its water from the Rio Grande. Plans are underway to establish a backup reservoir at Lake Casa Blanca, with a potential capacity to pump 23 million gallons per day. Collaboration with the Army Corps of Engineers will aid in the design of this reservoir, which would enhance the city's water security.
