Latvian Company SAF Tehnika Demonstrates Drone Jamming Prototype for Defense Ministry
Latvian Minister of Defense Andris Sprūds recently visited AS 'SAF Tehnika' to showcase a prototype radio signal jamming device aimed at disrupting drone communications and enhancing UAV protection. This initiative is part of a broader research and development agreement involving multiple companies, including Origin Robotics and Frankenburg Technologies, with funding co-financed by the Ministry of Defence. The Ministry retains rights to the results while allowing partners to market derived technologies to other nations' armed forces.

On January 14th, Latvian Minister of Defense Andris Sprūds visited AS 'SAF Tehnika' to demonstrate a prototype of a radio signal jamming device designed to disrupt communications used by drones. The device aims to enhance protection against unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) by blocking their communication and navigation signals.
This prototype is part of a research and development agreement between the Ministry of Defence and SAF Tehnika. In March 2025, the Ministry signed three R&D contracts with SAF Tehnika, Origin Robotics, and Frankenburg Technologies focused on UAV countermeasures, with a similar contract later signed with WeMPS.
The projects will be co-financed by the Ministry and the companies, following a 65/35 investment ratio. The Ministry retains the right to use the results for its needs while allowing partners to offer derived technologies to other countries' armed forces.
