The French Navy's third logistic support ship has been launched and is scheduled to depart from Saint-Nazaire to Brest in 2027. The ship features a full load displacement of 31,000 tonnes and has a fuel carrying capacity of 13,000 cubic meters, with dispensing capabilities of up to 1,200 cubic meters per hour.
Named after Émile Bertin, a naval engineer known for establishing a hydrodynamic test tank in Paris, the vessel pays tribute to contributions made to the Japanese Navy during the Meiji era. This development may enhance operational logistics for the French Navy, potentially impacting its readiness and efficiency in maritime operations.
