Lavrock Ventures Hires Ex-CIA Deputy Director to Enhance Defense Tech Investments
Lavrock Ventures has appointed Juliane Gallina, a former CIA deputy director for digital innovation, as a partner to focus on military and intelligence-related startups. Gallina's role will involve fostering connections between the defense tech sector and military agencies.
Investors globally committed $39.9 billion to defense tech startups by Q3 2025, surpassing totals from the previous three years, according to PitchBook Data. Arlington, Virginia-based Lavrock, founded in 2015, is currently investing from its third fund, which has an initial close of nearly $100 million and aims for a $125 million target by early 2026. The firm targets technologies for commercial and intelligence markets, with a portfolio including missile startup Castelion and satellite-tech developer CesiumAstro.
