Layup Parts Secures $42M in Series A Funding for Composite Manufacturing Innovation
Zack Eakin's Layup Parts has raised $42 million to streamline composite parts ordering, aiming to simplify the manufacturing process akin to Amazon. The funding will facilitate hiring and facility expansion, enhancing the startup's capabilities in the aerospace and defense sectors.

Layup Parts, founded by ex-Anduril engineer Zack Eakin, has raised $42 million in Series A funding led by Marlinspike, with participation from Cerberus Ventures and others. The startup aims to improve the ordering process for composite parts, leveraging two decades of Eakin's experience in composites and manufacturing.
The funding will primarily be used for personnel expansion and relocating to a larger facility. Layup Parts has already reduced the manufacturing time for parts from weeks to hours for various clients, particularly in aerospace and defense.
The rise of competitors in other manufacturing sectors has highlighted the need for innovation in composites, a gap Eakin intends to fill with this venture. The focus on software development to streamline ordering processes is crucial, as traditional firms struggle with innovation due to consolidation.
