LIG Defense Secures $94 Million Missile Export Deal with Malaysia
LIG Defense & Aerospace has finalized a $94 million contract to export Haegung surface-to-air missiles to Malaysia. This represents the first international sale of the Haegung system, developed to counter aerial threats against naval vessels.

LIG Defense & Aerospace has signed a $94 million export deal with Malaysia's Defense Ministry for the Haegung missile system. This transaction marks the initial international sale of the Haegung missiles, which are designed to intercept threats such as aircraft and anti-ship missiles, developed by the Agency for Defense Development in 2011.
The missiles will be deployed on offshore patrol vessels that Malaysia is acquiring from Turkey's STM. The agreement was made during the Defence Services Asia 2026 exhibition in Kuala Lumpur, which aims to enhance South Korea's presence in the Southeast Asian arms market. This could signal a shift in regional defense collaborations and procurement strategies.
