Lightshift Energy to Develop Six Battery Storage Projects in Massachusetts
Lightshift Energy has announced plans to establish six battery storage projects across Massachusetts, adding over 23 megawatts of capacity. These projects are anticipated to generate more than $90 million in savings for local utilities and their customers over 20 years, contributing to grid reliability and sustainability.

Lightshift Energy will implement six battery storage projects in Massachusetts towns, including Georgetown, Ipswich, Groton, Princeton, Ashburnham, and Marblehead, adding over 23 MW of capacity. The projects are expected to save local utilities and customers over $90 million through a 20-year contract, utilizing battery storage to alleviate peak demand costs.
The systems will charge during off-peak hours and discharge during high-demand periods, thereby reducing reliance on expensive power sources. Ipswich's project is currently under construction, while the others await major town permits. Lightshift’s partnership with the Massachusetts Municipal Wholesale Electric Company enables cost efficiency and expedited deployment, essential for managing rising energy costs and enhancing grid reliability.
