Lithuania Negotiates Rheinmetall's €400M Artillery Propellant Facility
Lithuania is in challenging discussions with Rheinmetall regarding a €400 million propellant production facility. The negotiations aim to secure favorable terms that align with the country's strategic and economic interests.

Lithuania's negotiations with Rheinmetall for a 155 mm artillery propellant production competence centre are ongoing, with an expected investment exceeding 400 million euros. The government is focused on ensuring the project aligns with national interests, complicating discussions as Rheinmetall balances multiple expansion projects.
Last November, a memorandum of understanding was signed, and the government is reviewing investment proposals and business plans. The facility's proximity to the existing artillery shell factory in Baisogala is beneficial, but site selection will prioritize plot size, infrastructure, and development speed. Lithuania has allocated 14 state-owned land plots for future industrial projects, indicating a strategic approach to industrial development.
