Lithuania Receives 500 U.S. JLTVs, Becomes Largest Operator Outside the U.S.
Lithuania has completed the delivery of 500 U.S.-made Joint Light Tactical Vehicles (JLTVs), enhancing its military capabilities and NATO interoperability. The acquisition, initiated in 2019, involved two delivery stages and included RBS70 NG air defence system-capable vehicles. This move positions Lithuania as the largest JLTV operator outside the U.S., contributing to its national division development and rapid response capability.

Lithuania has finalized the delivery of 500 U.S.-made Joint Light Tactical Vehicles (JLTVs), becoming the largest operator outside the U.S. The acquisition process, initiated in 2019, included a contract with the U.S.
Government and manufacturing by Oshkosh Defense. The vehicles are intended for operational use, enhancing division-level capabilities and NATO interoperability. A portion of the fleet includes RBS70 NG short-range air defence system capability, aligning with Lithuania's focus on air defence.
Approximately 60% of the defence budget is allocated for modernization this year, indicating a long-term investment strategy. The JLTVs will support reconnaissance, fire support, and command operations.
