Lithuania Secures Second HIMARS Battery for $280M Amid Defense Expansion
Lithuania has signed a $280 million amendment for a second HIMARS battery, raising total HIMARS investment to $778 million. This acquisition reflects Lithuania's strategic focus on enhancing its defense capabilities in response to regional threats, particularly its position between Belarus and Kaliningrad.

Lithuania's Defense Ministry confirmed the signing of a $280 million contract amendment with the U.S. for a second HIMARS battery, increasing the total value of HIMARS acquisitions to approximately $778 million. The updated agreement includes additional launchers, combat and training munitions, and logistics support, with Lockheed Martin tasked with implementation.
The first HIMARS battery, part of a previous $495 million deal signed in 2021, is expected to be delivered this year, reaching full operational capability by 2027. Lithuania's ongoing military investments, totaling around €2 billion over three years, position it as the largest U.S. arms buyer in the Baltic region, enhancing its defense posture amid heightened regional tensions.
